Swift Financial® Ranked "Best In Business" By The News Journal

WILMINGTON, Del., Aug. 02, 2008 – Swift Financial, the direct financial services company dedicated to serving small businesses, has been ranked “Best in Business” by The News Journal, Delaware’s leading daily newspaper. In addition, the company’s chief executive officer, Ed Harycki, received a “top leader” award in the newspaper’s special business feature.

The News Journal’s “Best in Business” section, published on Aug. 3, ranks area companies – large, medium and small – on important workplace factors such as direction, execution, career, conditions and pay and benefits. Swift Financial placed second in the small-business category, among 35 companies with 25 to 99 employees.

Research for the newspaper’s ninth annual “Best in Business“ rankings was conducted by WorkplaceDynamics LLC, in Malvern, Pa., among Delaware managers, employees and community organizations to identify employers that make wise strategic decisions, have strong sets of values and have deep commitments to their work force.

The News Journal reports that attention to service for its small-business customers has led to success for Swift Financial. Similarly, the company’s attention to its own employees enabled Swift Financial to place so high in the rankings, only 15 months after launching.

The newspaper cites a high degree of openness as contributing to the company’s success. The workplace boasts an open-office environment with no doors or offices. Employees kick-start each day with a jump meeting to discuss the previous day’s results and other top priorities. Regular recognition meetings acknowledge outstanding employee performances and business development associates are encouraged by applause each and every time they make a sale.

CEO Ed Harycki Named ‘Top Leader’

As part of its special “Best in Business” feature package, The News Journal presented Swift Financial Chief Executive Officer Ed Harycki with the sole “top leader” award in the small-business category. In an executive profile, the newspaper highlights Harycki’s banking career and notes that he began incubating his small-bank-for-small-businesses idea while still at a large, national institution.

The newspaper notes that Swift Financial employees report Harycki has an unwavering report of the big picture and hires people he can trust to take care of details. “He doesn’t micromanage,” said one staffer.

The News Journal adds that Village Ventures, one of the major investors in Swift Financial, was attracted by Harycki’s seemingly natural leadership talent and his ability to work in organizations of different sizes. “Ed’s a good example of what we look for in a CEO,” said Village Ventures founder Matt Harris.
